![]() ![]() Just remember to hold on to the green swords. The second was a solid "meh" and the third was awful. Were you running full-screen or windowed? Because it is quite hard to make things out in windowed, but I had no problem in full-screen.And agree on Lands of Lore being great (the first one anyway). Still played it through to the end though.Lands of Lore is the other great party based FPRPG as far as I am concerned. I never thought the story was up to much and it was too easy to end up with a nerfed party. I think the RPG and story elements are fine, but the UI was miniscule! Regardless, I just managed to wrestle BG2 back into its box without installing it and I don´t need to start any other RPG crack either.I enjoyed Wizardry 8 quite a lot, but I certainly wouldn´t call it near perfect. (U6 is just as good of a game but the aged interface is beyond clunky)Rob Is it even possible to get a copy of this game? I just checked ebay and there were an underwhelming zero copies to be had. If you use Exult, you can get a lot of UI pluses from the expansions in the original, making it stand up to time a little better. With two parts and two expansions - nearly the equivalent of 4 full games in length - it shouldn't disappoint. Stackpole, one of the best fiction authors around.Ultima 7 is where it's at, though. Down with Fallouts, play the original! Includes some efforts by Michael A. Quote:Originally posted by ronelson:quote:Find an old copy of Wasteland Truth. Remember the Elder Scrolls skills-increase-as-you-use-them? Betrayal at Krondor has that, it may have had it first? (post-and-run FTL!) It's still one of the best and underplayed CRPGs ever made, for lots of little reasons. Later on when he's more hard-up for money, he writes a book "Betrayal at Krondor," a wholly mediocre book following the plot of the game, but in part having to follow the in-game event, like "gather all the crystals so I can complete the spell!" fetch-quests, which makes it a pretty sucky book. Not to disparage the game. It was licensed to use the world, because Raymond Feist was riding high back then, and said they couldn't afford him to write it personally. (NOT the CD that came free with one of the books or somesuch). It is also a better game than a book. Bonus points if you can get the original CD version, the one with the CD-quality audio. Lets open up the floor for suggestions from any console/pc, and not just limit this discussion to windows based FPRPGs. I've played plenty of bioware-style CRPGs, but I've never given a second thought to the Might and Magics, or the Realms of Arkania. I'm beginning to think that I blacklisted all CRPGs for the same reason. The party management and detailed combat really helped me exorcise my tactical demons, the intricate storyline made the adventurey side of me swoon. The thing that really shook me to my core was that I've tried Wiz8 in the past, and I would always give up because there was a decent bit of a learning curve. Somehow my mind drifted back to a copy of Wizardry 8 I had back in the day, its a long shot.but why not give it a try? Turns out Wizardry was exactly what I was looking for. Thinking I was really looking for an action adventure game, I picked up Zelda for the DS.close, but still not yet what I was looking for. I loaded up Romance of the Three Kingdoms thinking I needed a strategy fix, definitely helped the need subside but didn't quite satisfy. ![]()
